A Day in the Life of Me |
This lesson is based on Emmerson and Horton's (2015, January) SchoolArts lesson article by the same name. Its emphasis is on examining perceptions of change in self. Students will track one day of their daily routines then create comic strips of those routines. Through art they will examine the efficacy of their own routines, contemplate a reasonable change in just one element of such routines, and then test the change. Extending these thoughts to a larger scale, students will make group storyboards of a community issue, revealing their throughs about the effects of a reasonable change in one key element of that issue. The rest of their storyboard will portray their predictions of the effects that this one change could have on a larger scale. They will share their graphic representations of their community issue and solutions in a digital social setting and monitor the site for global feedback. Does their art have the potential to bring about change in others?
